Basic Info About Fernsehturm

The Fernsehturm is said to be the tallest architecture in Berlin. You’ll surely realize that once you see this tower during your whole stay in the German city.

This tower is not only a great architecture in Germany but a historically valuable building too.

The Fernsehturm started to be constructed in 1965 and was finished in 1969. This tower’s construction was sponsored by the German Democratic Republic as Berlin’s symbol. It continues to be the city’s symbol until these days.

Originally, the tower was around 365 meters but it became 368 meters in 1990s when a new antenna was installed.

The Things You Can See Around and In Fernsehturm

Being a symbol of Berlin, the Fernsehturm is expected to always have a lot of foreign visitors. That is true, especially if you try to at least walk around the tower.

Don’t be surprised to arrive in a long line before you can enter the tower. Sometimes, people wait for two hours or more just to get in the Fernsehturm. This long wait may be worth it once you get in the tower and see how beautiful it is and the Berlin view it offers.

There is a rotating restaurant as well as a visitors’ platform in the middle of the Fernsehturm’s sphere. You surely want to have a taste of the German food while seeing the beauty of the entire Berlin. Other Berlin natives refer to the Fernsehturm as a place for socialite. That is true especially if you find visiting this place very expensive.

For example, you have to pay more or less 8 Euros before you can enter the Fernsehturm. Some tourists say that this is too much just to have a good view of the whole Berlin. Also, the menu prices in the tower’s restaurant are more expensive than other restaurants in Berlin according to some tourists.

But there are some visitors who were very pleased to have visited the place and never bothered whether it cost them cheaper or not. The restaurant’s foods were considered delicious and one-of-a-kind by some visitors too.

Anyway, every visitor in Fernsehturm has his own comment about the tower. You can only tell whether it is worth a visit or not by actually visiting the place. It may not be the best architecture in Berlin, but Fernsehturm is one of the most significant German symbols in Berlin.
